November 2011
Dear Friends,
We just celebrated Thanksgiving at the Tignor house. When the kids
were asked what they were thankful for, they started naming
things—and continued listing blessings for the next five minutes!
James remarked, “Why is it that sometimes we think we do not have
much, but then when we start thinking of all the things we do have,
the good things never seem to end?!” I am so glad that our
9-year-old has learned this lesson in thankfulness, one in which I
need a refresher course on a regular basis!
We are thankful for those of you who gave sacrificially so that our
children can continue their schooling. God is so great! It is
challenging to be such an integral part of our children’s education,
but so rewarding as well. We are thankful for the tools that assist
us in bringing up our children in the nurture and admonition of the
Lord You have enabled us to continue using those tools, and for that
we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Our hearts are filled with thankfulness as we see the balance on our
home project account slowly rising, due to the generous gifts that
many of you have given. We look forward to the day when we can
actually begin the building process. To us that day seems so far in
the future, but God is the God of the impossible, and that day may
be much closer than we think! We know that He will bring in the
needed funds in His time and in His way. Thank you so much for your
prayers and gifts for this project! We are extremely grateful for
the home that the Lord has provided for us to rent in the meantime,
because it is in a relatively good neighborhood and the kids have a
small space in which to play safely. However, as with all rented
properties, our monthly rent has been raised once since we moved in
and I imagine it will go up again before too long. God is always
faithful to provide, but it would be so nice to have a home without
having to be concerned with impending higher rent costs on a fixed
budget. Once again, if you would like to contribute toward our new
house here in Ecuador, the project fund number with the Baptist
Bible Fellowship is H-3285-071.
We are thankful for the opportunity to personally see God at work
here in Ecuador. One Sunday recently, we were happy to see Martha, a
little girl who has attended sporadically with her family over the
course of the past few years. After the lesson, Martha (who had
arrived at the end of the lesson time) asked my wife, “Hermana
(“Sister”), what does a person do to become a Christian?” Lois asked
her if she wanted to give her life to Jesus, and she responded with
a hearty, “Yes!” Lois was happy to take her into a back room during
the opening part of the morning service, and share with her the plan
of salvation from God’s Word. Although Martha has a speech
impediment and Lois found it difficult to understand her as she
prayed, we are grateful that our Lord has no such problem
comprehending the cry of a seeking soul. After the service, Martha
was happy to report her decision to her Daddy, who was of course
thrilled for her. We are always excited when we can have a small
part in giving the angels cause for rejoicing!
Thankfulness fills our hearts as we see God at work in the lives of
believers, as well. This past week one young man who had turned his
back on God after a romantic break-up posted on Facebook, “Today I
am deciding to return to Jesus and follow Him.” Although he has not
yet come back to church, we are confident that the Holy Spirit Who
began His work in this youth will perform it until the day of Jesus
Christ. Thank you for your continued prayers for Paúl.
We are so grateful for you, our faithful supporters. Without you, we
could not continue here in Ecuador telling dear folks here of Jesus’
saving power and grace. We are thankful for your earnest prayers for
us and for our ministry. We see God’s hand in our lives, and know
that it is due to your intercession on our behalf. Thank you, our
beloved brethren.
Your missionaries in Ecuador,
Chris, Lois, Elisabeth, James, Grace, Christina and
Daniel Tignor
