October 2006Dear Praying Friends, We were delighted, upon our return from furlough, to find that during our absence the church attendance had remained steady, the members had been working together, and the Faith Promise Missions offering had increased 41%. What tremendous blessings for a missionary!!! Gaston and Jorgelina, who were in charge of the work, did very well and are much closer to the day that they can be out on their own. Please keep them in your prayers about God’s timing and direction in their lives. I just recently spent two weeks preaching in another state. I held family conferences in 3 churches, and presented the Bible College in each of them. God gave us 2 souls saved, several commitments between husbands and wives, and some more prospective students. We have 8 students already committed, and others still praying about it. I will be presenting the college again this very week to several others. The burden now is raising the funds for the student grants. Most cannot afford their training and are asking for work grants. We are estimating a minimal cost of $85 monthly per student for room and board and photocopies. This expense is for 2 years, 11 months per year. We currently have enough for 5 grants, and are praying God will lead some others to sponsor a student for 2 years or make a one time donation towards the grant fund. If you would like to participate in this as a class project, or make a fund donation, please be sure to mark the contribution “Thornton: student grants” so the funds can be used as you designated.
Thank you for all you do to make the ministry in Rosario possible: we truly appreciate your faithfulness to the Lord and to us! God bless you! Steve & Pam Email: SteveThornton@bbfi.org
