Eighty

May 15, 2005

It just seems like yesterday that I was thirty-five;
Now here I am at eighty, and glad to be alive.

Just to be existing is not my cup of tea,
But living life—up to the hilt—is challenging to me.

To dwell in yesteryear is good, if that's all you can do...
To live alone with memories of those so dear to you.

But there's another phase that life can be more sweet,
When you have a goal in mind you still have to complete.

Like making friends or making trips, or putting on a smile.
Keep looking to the future, and you'll live a long, long while.
